Agriculture Insurance
SRS data includes digital maps with geographical coordinates. The accuracy of SRS based data extraction to delineated land area of interest is higher than 90%. This is important for data archive or documentation process, loss claims and risk assessment of an insured acreage. High data accuracy improves the refinement of land division which allows seamless integration of multiple datasets for decision making. Accurate reporting also minimises skew adjustment of risk rate which ultimately prevent incurrence of high premiums in areas which are not necessary. Besides, individual agriculture land right information can be better differentiated for further land area assessment such as soil moisture and fertility mapping.
With accurate mapping of agriculture activity, suspected fraud or abuse in claims activities can be investigated more precisely. SRS imagery can be used to examine a crop producer for a defined time frame and reconstruct its growing season. SRS imagery allows claim investigators to perform forensic remote sensing agriculture investigation at any location to see what actually happened on the ground. Claim investigators can pull out interested imagery and overlay the digitized map of the farm field boundary for further investigation. Besides, insurance underwriters can see if an acreage has been planted as the producer said it would. This compliance can potentially affect the underwriter’s decision in the insurance coverage and premium pricing for a farm land. Since images are captured frequently, gathering and documenting the visual information is important because it provides the evidence needed in a sound and scientific manner for various assessment when required.
List of SRS Agriculture Forensic Service
SRS of agriculture forensic can be performed on four main classes for insurance application as illustrated in the table below.
Process workflow of SRS in agriculture damage assessment
A typical agriculture damage assessment workflow that includes SRS data are as follow:
- Retrieve or import SRS data of relevant acreage
- Computation of vegetation index for visualization
- Modelling adaptation or calibration of model to fit scenario
- Computation of damage assessment to quantify loss
- Visual inspection and interpretation of historical data satellite data for infringement
- Produce reports of damage area, state of crops development and claims analysis
