Flooding and Erosion
Flooding, exacerbated by the increasing frequency of extreme precipitation events due to climate change, had caused unprecedented damage over the past decades. It had impacted the agriculture industries, infrastructures and affected the livelihood and safety of the people especially for those who settled on floodplain. Continuous heavy raining on deforested land causes erosion which may trigger incident of landslides and produce further complications to the effort of flood mitigation.
SRS, especially for satellite with sensor using wavelength of microwave region, is very effective in recognizing water bodies and thus is very useful in the delineation of flooded region in large scale. The mapping of flooded region as well as the estimation of the volume of water body is necessary for flood mitigation planning and resources allocation.
By collecting numerous multi-epoch and multi-source data, Spacegen is able to produce accurate flood prediction to form an early warning system to warn the residents in proximity of flood dangers. In addition, Spacegen is capable of carrying out reliable and accurate flood risk assessment for the use of sustainable planning of urban settlement, agricultural land expansion, civil engineering projects etc.
